Re: 1984 EZGO Electric to Gas Conversion
Yeah, my electric rear was about 12:1 as well.
It looks like you can't go any larger with the drive sprocket, what about the driven? Could you put one on there with two or three fewer teeth? I have to say it's a very cool build! Did you get a deal on the engin/tranny? |

Re: 1984 EZGO Electric to Gas Conversion
I don't know why I didn't think of it before but I could pull the driven shaft and put it on my lathe then turn it down to 3/4 or 1 inch. Then put it on my mill and mill a keyway then I could use jackshaft sprockets as long as the shaft is not hardened and I can cut it down. Does anyone know if the motor shaft is hardened?

Re: 1984 EZGO Electric to Gas Conversion
no idea about the armature being hardened or not. Have you GPSd it? What are you looking to get as top speed? I know mine gets squirrely above 20mph.
Are you using a 14t drive and a 14t diriven sprocket? If you change the drive to 19t, that's just over 1/3rd more teeth should give you 1/3rd more speed, right? |
