Question about Wiring 36V to 12V converer
Again I ask for you technical wisdom.
I installed a 36V to 12V converter. I wired it in solid to the 36V (With fuse) pos. and negative. I then ran and ran 12V pos. to the switch for my 12V lights and negative from the 12V converter to the lights. I was advised here to switch the 36V to save power. My question is: Can I merely use the switch for the Positive 36V. and the negative previously run from the 12V to the lights? I am wondering if negative is negative? |

Re: Question about Wiring 36V to 12V converer
all you need to do is put a toggle switch on the POS (+) to the converter from the batteries. That way one flip of the switch and you kill the power to the converter. that is exactly how I have mine wired up. works like a champ.

Re: Question about Wiring 36V to 12V converer
I understand the switch needed on the positive for the 36V!
I currently have the 12V switch mounted in the dash and have the wires to that location and a negative wire from the 12V side of the converter to the lights. I am trying to determine if I need to have a separate negative for the 12V side and the 36V side of the converter or if Negative is Negative! |

Re: Question about Wiring 36V to 12V converer
Typically they are common, but that depends on the converter. It's possible for it to be isolated.
