On the red ST at the railyard, the buzzer stayed on any time the cart got wet. I finally put a toggle in the return line to shut it off in such situations. I never could figure out where the circuit closed when it got wet.

I asked the same question a few months ago and after several replies i decided i could live with a little beeping in lieu of injuring someone.

And what if the childlike operator happens to run someone down with the cart left in forward? It's all good cause your reverse beeper is intact...

Yep. Hard to claim negligence when everything works properly. Liability would probably be on the parents...

Reverse beeper disabling has always been a hot topic. I am not advocating disabling the alarm.
The fact remains that millions of cars and trucks operate in public everyday with backup alarms.

I saw my then 10 year old daughter almost get run over by someone with no reverse buzzer. The rear step and her reflexes saved her. Those who wish to disable theirs so be it but mine just have a little black tape on them..

I put electrical tape over the beeper on my RXV, it now makes enough sound that I can hear it and tell that it's in Reverse, but it's not so loud as to be extremely annoying. It's probably not loud enough to be "safe", however. But, this thread, and reading the linked article brings up a point:

It's a really good idea to put the F/R selector on an electric cart in "N" when exiting the machine. If it has the old-style selector near your legs, turn the key switch to "Off". All too many people never turn the switch off, they're too lazy to turn it back on, I suppose.

I worked with a fella who was using a cart in the factory during some maintenance work. He pulled up to the job, walked around the front, began working, and bumped the cart. That caused a large hunk of steel that he had sitting on the platform to fall over onto the accelerator pedal, pinning him against a machine. He was injured rather seriously.

I've tried to get into the habit of turning the switch either 'Off' or 'Neutral' on my RXV, every single time.

2006 36 Volt EZGO TXT. Does anyone know if the alarm is, in fact, under the FR/key switch on the dash, and if it can be disconnected without affecting the operation of the cart?

Thanks for all input!!!
