Default '05 Precedent left rear light

For the second time in 2 years, the left rear light (both brake & tail) has failed.

I removed and unplugged the light assembly and I have good voltage at the car side of the plug - steady 12 volts for the tail lights, and flashing for the turn signal. I hook the light assembly to a 12v battery & nothing works.

Anybody else having problems with Precedent tail lights? What in the wide world of sports is'a goin' on here ?

thanks, Dave

I would guess bad ground somewhere in the wiring, between the power and that particular light. check your wires for cuts or cracks

If you put 12 volts to the light and it does not work, it has to be bad bulb I would think.

My friend has a left brake/tail light that is real dim on a 2006. From your problem and his there might be something wrong in the wiring on these carts.

What kind of light kit is on your car? Are the lights cheap lights from China? Most Precedent light kits are, as nobody wants to spend the money for factory lighting.

My guess the flasher, wiring is wiring either it is right or you have damage somewhere like intermittent short. So check switches, relays & flasher, these things that are cheap can be replaced with better quality parts If you can find them.

I have voltage at this plug that feeds the left rear light assembly. I cannot get the light to work using a 12 volt battery. Seems to me the light assembly is bad.

Yes, the light kit is an "off shore" part.

Since this is the second light assembly to go bad in the past 2 years, I am wondering if anybody else has had problems with Precedent rear lights?

Thanks, Dave

Can't you just replace the bulb? I never tried, It just may be a coincidence, try again. The flasher isn't much replace it also, it may be acting up.

I've had lots of problems with them. Factory lights will hold up much better and they look better too.

Your meter leads also look off-shore. Replace the bulbs with LED's.

Yep, the meter is off shore also - and since I repaired the test lead it still works.

The light assembly is a sealed unit using LED's. I tried to repair the first one that went bad, and I think the LED's are failing.

I know the flasher works because the right side works just fine, and when I check the voltage at the plug on the left side , I get 12 volts off & on in sync with the flasher.

Thanks for the reply's.
