Re: DVM
You don't need an expensive DVM. Fluke is nice but expensive. I have one but I am an EE and I do a lot of stuff with it. I also have a cheap one I got from Radio Shack years ago for around $10 and it does the job. I keep that one in my model airplane flight box. The fluke stays in my workshop.

Re: DVM
I have 2 fluke meters from eBay and my old faithful Sperry HDM4400. I see this meter on Amazon for $29.99 but I got mine at Lowes or HD.

Re: DVM
The HF one is not an inacurate POS, as long as the batteries in it are good (same applies to all meters). The HF meter is a throwaway when it fails, and its most likely failure is the display not showing all characters correctly. I have more meters than i can count, and the HF is no worse than the rest. My fave is my snap-on. The low quality leads are an issue, but when they fail, they just stop working at all, not BS readings. (LOL, my HF meter has Pomona leads on it).

Re: DVM
Agree with Nuke. Home Depot has good Klein DVM's for a pretty reasonable price.
This is the one that I have. Been bulletproof for me. Klein meter |

Re: DVM
I used to have a Simpson analog, then got a Fluke 77, and later a Wavetek 27XT. I now have a Meterman PM55, which is a great "disposable" DMM, good for carrying in the buggy.
It has a built-in tick tracer. |

http://www.homedepot.com/p/Klein-Too...2000/202266606 I forgot the best advice for buying a meter is. Buy the most expensive meter you can afford and only cry once about it. |

Re: DVM
I think it's a 337, Know it's a fluke, does clamp on DC Amps, and has been dropped more than once, before you buy one use a demo one and see how it feels in your hands , see the display and stuff like that , is what I would suggest.
