FYI Magnet works for 2011 Precedent with Excell motor

I have tried the magnet on Excel carts, both the 2 pole and 4 pole models and it didn't make any difference. (And I tried it on quite a few different years) Installation of the magnet will still work normally, but it won't increase speed. Speed code 4 will get close to 20.

This is a technicality as most vendors selling Golf Cart "speed" magnets will know what You want, but if You ever call a sensor magnet manufacturer directly, You need to use the correct information.

The stock magnet is a 8 pole (4N + 4S), the "speed" magnet is a 4 Pole (2N + 2S).

Club Car uses a bi-polar latching Hal effect speed sensor, so it takes 2 poles of opposite polarity to create 1 pulse.

The stock magnet will generate 4 pulses per motor revolution while the "speed" magnet will generate 2 pulses per motor revolution.

Unless something dramatically has changed with the Excel Controllers, installing a "speed" magnet will not allow the car to work "normally" at all.

The Excel controller uses a very simple but clever method of "checking" that the speed sensor loop has not been tampered with.

Since the Volts/Armature revolution is a know value for the motor (aka: Back EMF), once the controller Armature PWM is above 75% and the speed sensor feedback is outside the acceptable range, the controller will quickly turn the Motor into a generator (engage Regen brake).

The Voltage produced by the Armature will be directly proportional to the speed the motor is rotating regardless of what the speed sensor is signaling to the controller.

It will feel like someone just step on the brakes really hard.

The controller will them limit the PWM to 50%, which will be around 8mph.

If You keep the pedal down, the cart will continue to go into this pattern of accelerating and then quickly braking to 8mph.
