Voltage Reducer and Lights
Ok, so I installed a voltage reducer that I purchased from Scotty B on a 1996, 48 volt Club Car DS. Wired as described on print that came with it. Wired in a LED light bar with no buss bar or fuse panel. Yellow wire to the key switch, green to the LED power, and negative LED wire to ground terminal behind key switch panel. Both sets of lights work by themselves but shut each other off when switch is energized. LED light turns off when brake pedal is depressed. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: Voltage Reducer and Lights
My first idea would be to suggest that it is not wired like the print that came with it. Double/Triple check your wiring. Might help if you can post a print/drawing of what you have.

What ground terminal behind key switch panel? Negative needs to go straight back to tie in with the ground on the reducer, be it a buss bar or at the negative on the battery pack. Red goes to 48v positive on battery pack. Black goes to buss, then to battery pack or straight to battery pack. This is a common ground for all 12v accessories. Yellow goes to key switch with voltage when key is on. Green provides 12v positive to accessories. |

Re: Voltage Reducer and Lights
Never assume on electrical.
Use a meter or a test light to confirm that is a ground buss. Unhook your ground from there and run a temp wire back to the battery pack and tie in at the same place as where you are getting your ground for your reducer. See if that works and go from there. |
