Something different---6/8's to 4/12's
I've got a chance to buy a Carryall 48 volt for $400.
Needs batteries but otherwise in decent condition. The Carryall currently has 6/8 volt batteries. Here is my question, I am replacing the the 4/12's in my precedent this spring with 6/8's (the Precedent is the primary buggy) Can I take the 4/12's from the Precedent and put into the Carryall? I can still get about 1.75 hours of cruising out of the 2011 twelve volt batteries in the Precedent, so I'm thinking they would work in the Carryall for perhaps a couple of more seasons at camp. The Carryall would only be used for me and the wife to cruise to other folks campers and the occasional jaunt around the camp grounds. of course it would be used for gathering firewood and such, but the carryall would see limited duty and the Precedent can have the new 8 volt batteries and my daughter can pretty much cruise to her hearts content....for several hours anyway. would this work? |

Re: Something different---6/8's to 4/12's
The battery racks are not configured for them to physically fit into the cart. Yes they'll work, but they won't fit. The battery rack configuration for 4 12's and 6 8's is totally different in the DS (Carryall 1). It's not like the Precedent which will accept either style in the bucket. The DS is either one or the other, not both.

I did notice that I will have to do some modifying to the bucket.
They will fit, I already put one in there, Just need to add a brace and figure out hold downs. Plus it will leave a spot in the middle for another 12 volt battery to run my lights and such. |

Holy crap!!! I just found a new one online for $114!!!!
Don't know where i saw the "Kit" for $500, but I know I did. Heck, I'd rather just get a new bucket for $100 or so rather than cut my bucket up. |

Just keep in mind that you need more than just the bucket. You also have to relocate the OBC, Controller, Solenoid, etc.... Basically everything underneath that cover.
