With 23" tall tires and a rear seat along with higher ampacity than stock controller, bot the motor and F/R assembly get a heavy workout, so having both of the fail at or near the same time is a reasonable assumption.
The original F/R was very likely not passing the full amperage from the controller and when the new F/R started hitting the motor with all the amps, the motor was stressed more than it had been. With a new set of brushes (plus cleaning up the commutator and maybe replacing the bearings), that same motor might least another 14 years. Of course, it would also be a good time to look at an aftermarket motor better suited for turning the tall tires and hauling the added weight. |

Sorry for the delayed response I haven't been able to log in for a while . It was the motor pulled it apart and a wire on the brush had burnt off.
