Default Scored an 06 TXT 2+2 "barn queen"

I just purchased this 06 that has been sitting in a barn for two years. The owner bought it with new batteries just short of two years ago and NEVER used it once.

I picked it up for a steal and it seems to be in great shape. This is my first cart, so I have lots to learn.

It has a crappy 5amp brick charger with it, so think that will be my first item to replace.

Welcome all tips, advice and pointers

SWR:

I highly recommend the DPI Accusense battery charger from ScottyB.
http://www.cartsunlimited.net/chargers-36-48v.html

In fact, go read everything on his web site, battery care, charging, etc. It's very very informative.

You probably already know it, but you're going to need a new set of batteries...

Good Luck
Mike

Thanks for the DPI tip, ironically I was just looking at one of those! Ordering one tonight.

Anyone know how to turn off the backup beeper?

Find the beeper (probably behind the the dash) and disconnect one side of it. It could also be near the FNR switch mechanism.

Or put a piece of electrical tape over the beeper to cut the volume in half. I like the cart warning when it's backing up but I don't want to wake the neighbors with it.

There's a story (supposedly true, but it is the internet...) of a guy who was sued because the cart was at a vacation rental house and he disabled the backup beeper. They renters didn't realize it was in reverse and a kid hit the throttle and ran over his mom seriously injuring her. The liability came from him intentionally removing the warning device (backup beeper).

I'll find a way to tone it down or a different sound. I read on the forum all the reasons why to leave it connected.

The current sound sends our black lab into a panic. Try having a 75lb dog crawl onto your lap in the cart poses another set of safety issues!

DPI charger will be arriving by Friday. Hope to be able to salvage some life out of the batteries.

You can reach the beeper from under the front cowl. A wrap of electrical tape will tone it down immensely.

Put one of those cheap ear plugs in the beeper hole. Tones it right down lol

The backup beeper is located in the housing where the direction control linkage is. Covering it with tape made it now bearable.

Now on to my next task. With key turned to the position for lights, the lights come on but the car will not move forward or reverse. I'll start debugging at the key level tomorrow.
