cart keeps going once you let off gas
1985 club car ds just pet new batteries and hooked up new wiring. When you push the gas pedal down it kind of jerks and takes off then when you let off the pedal it keeps going. You have to switch it to neutral to get it to stop. There is also a burning smell. I only ran it for about 30 seconds and shut it down. I looked it over real well and don't see any burnt wires or melted plastic..... Any ideas?

Re: cart keeps going once you let off gas
Update **** I jacked up the rear so the tires were off the ground so I could figure out what it was doing. So I turned the key on and as soon as I switch it to Forward the cart takes off, switch to neutral and it stops! Switch it to reverse and it takes off, all without touching the gas! Also when I switch it to forward or reverse I can see some sparks in the F & R switch ( I assume it's just making contact with power)

What new wiring did you hook up?
And regardless, it sounds like your FNR has burned up..... |

Re: cart keeps going once you let off gas
On a 1985 cart you have to have 2 solenoids welded in the shut position, one of them being the master solenoid. So depending on how fast the cart runs when you put it in gear will depend on what other solenoid is shut.

Re: cart keeps going once you let off gas
No new wiring just put the cart back together, when I got it was without batteries, F & R switch and a charging plug. So I installed new F & R switch, batteries, charging plug and put 5 new solenoids in. I have followed the wiring diagram and everything looks to be installed correct.

So all those new parts and it never ran correct? Wired wrong...or a very very rare issue of the first micro stuck AND another micro stuck. Id triple check the wiring as more than likely that's where your issue lies |

Re: cart keeps going once you let off gas
Ok I think I fixed it, stupid me the brass bar that spans all the solenoids I forgot to put a nut down as a spacer first so I think that bar was touching some wires. ( Next question with the rear end lifted my passenger rear tire spins when I push the gas but my driver side does not, is this normal? the driver side feels a little had to spin like have to give it a little muscle to get it spinning.

Re: cart keeps going once you let off gas
Next question I took it for a spin down the driveway and to the neighbors house and I could smell burning so I quickly backed it back into the driveway and seen NO smoke and felt everything and the only thing that was warm was the coil... could something be burning off it (oil, grease or dust?) should that coil get that hot?
