Default Many questions (rivets, hip restraint hardware)

Bought a Medalist I'm going through. The plywood in the seat was toast, but the bonus seat bottom is in decent shape. I'm just cutting a new piece of plywood and reattaching.

1) Where do I get the anchor piece for the bolts that hold the hip restraints onto the seat? What are they called?

2) unrelated to no 1, but I'm going to replace Medalist body with a pull off txt body from a local cart shop. What rivets do I need to buy for putting on the new body? I've never worked with rivets before. Learning as I go.

1. A T nut is what I used for mine. A threaded insert would also work.
2. Ezgo sells a rivet kit, which has most of what you will need, at least for the body. IIRC, you'll need some additional if you're doing a total rebuild of your cart. Somewhere on this site, someone compiled a list of everything you need. You may want to try a search.

If you're going to be doings work yourself on your cart, you should find and print a copy of the service/parts manual. It'll tell you things like sizes of the bolts above, as well as which rivets you need.

Good luck, and post as you go.

as orangeman6 mentioned.....what I used when I redid my seat, and what Ez Go put on the seat is called a T Nut....they come in different sizes AND you can get them at Lowes.

Soonercntry, I have a 94 Medalist I am revitalizing, including a later model TXT body as well.
I have found this site is a wealth of knowledge and very eager to share information with you.
Good luck

I think it would be smart for me to buy an entire rivet kit. I saw where I can get a tool at harbor freight for $20. I think that's the direction I will go for now.

You nailed it, thank you!

I am a total virgin with this stuff. I'm excited to go through this thing and make it my own work of art.

I found a pull off txt Body for $75 that I'm going to have dipped. I just need to figure out what I want it dipped with.

I've only done the one rebuild, but yes, I would recommend buying the kit. Also, I'd locate a local source for additional rivets. Fastenal, or whatever is in your area.

I bought the two handled rivet tool from HF. You need one large enough for the 1/4" rivets that hold the body on. A smaller one is needed as well to get into some of the tighter spots. I should have just bought the pneumatic one from HF. I think it was $40?? I've heard it works better and you can do all of the rivets with that tool.

And make sure you find the manual. It's a must have for looking up part #s and how things go back together.

This is my first cart as well, I do have a back round in the body shop and automotive repair industry. I found a TXT body, already cut out for headlights and taillights. I am partially closing up the hole where the charger plugs in and am filling in the holes on top of the rear fenders, deleting the pads that sit there.
My cart is mainly going to be used at our 9 hole golf course and will remain mostly stock for now. Keep us posted on your build!
