Default what happened

I have a 2013 precedent. It has new batteries and cables . It is fully charged and we were driving along coming down a hill in the neighborhood. The charge light came on and it started stopping like it had the regen brake holding back . It is set on speed code 4 with no brake programmed . We stopped and the light went off and has been fine since. Any ideas on what might have happened.

Everything you described is the overspeed applying through the motor brake to prevent motor damage.

Makes sense but i was going slow , had brake on just coasting down . Ive came down the hill a lot faster with no brake on lol. Ive noticed last few times when we first turn it on and mash the throttle , the charge light stays on for a few seconds then stays off . Even at full charge

That is usually a signal from the OBC that your charge is less than 90% or had an incomplete charge. Check your pack voltage with a DVM the next time you go to leave and see where it is at. 50.9v is fully charged.
