Wait, before you spend $400 on a stock motor rebuild please look at what our site sponsors have to offer.
You may just need a more powerful controller.
A toque motor would help for sure but you would need a controller to feed it.
Alltrax controllers are configurable in the amperage output.
If your motor is repairable and can be used you can lower the peak controller output and help extend motor life.

These guys can help you out and are site sponsors.

Thanks. I’d rather not have to spend $400 especially if it’s repairable. My main need is to climb the steep driveway. I’ll. Definitely check the links you posted.

Find an alternator and starter repair shop. Google it, or (heaven forbid) pick up a phone book and call around a few places. If you can't find any, call a couple local golf cart shops and ask who they use for motor repairs.

It will likely need a new post, new insulator, and will need the field wire welded to the new post. Any competent electric motor shop can do that in 20 minutes.
I had that exact same thing done recently and had the commutator re-finished and new brushes and new bearing installed at a shop here in VA for under $300. It's essentially a new motor at this point, for half the cost. A rebuilt motor from a website will be no different, except for a layer of cheap paint.
I have full confidence in the work this shop does because they've been in business 40+ years.
