G29 problem
Hey guys. Need some help. My buddy has an electric g29. The controller and f/r switch went bad. We put an upgraded controller in it (alltrax 400) upgraded 4 gauge wire. It worked great for a little while and randomly it started melting everything. Why?

Re: G29 problem
Are you sure it’s a G29 “Drive?” The FNR switch on a YDRE is just a rocker switch and shouldn’t melt. What specifically is melting? Motor cables? Battery terminals?

Re: G29 problem
The f/r switch went bad and didnt melt. One terminal on a battery melted, some wires, the A2 wire that isnt on the motor melted as well

Re: G29 problem
Melted battery terminals are caused by excessive resistance. Either bad cables, loose connections, corrosion, or insufficient gauge wire.(you said yours are 4 AWG throughout?) Any of those would cause heat to build up, eventually melting.

Re: G29 problem
So should we just go zero gauge and make sure its a good crimp?

Re: G29 problem
Gauge was not the problem. Bad connections - either loose or not clean are the problem that causes melting.
