Adding a fan to Alltrax SR48400?'s
Can I add a cooling fan to my already installed Alltrax SR48400?
If so, how much of a hassle is it to install on the controller? Do I need another bracket? (picture is of my current setup) Thanks |

Scotty sells the fan alone. I don’t think it takes up much more room... |

Are you over heating? I just ordered that controller for my 48v lifted txt series cart!

The fan is plug and play. It plugs in and 4 screws secure it. Reinstall the same solenoid bracket.

Also, there are two Temperature columns, one for the B+ buss and another for the M- buss, plus an "Overtemp" column. I'm not sure what temperature turns on the fan, or what temperature put the controller into a reduced performance mode, but if either buss bar reaches 85°C (185°F), the controller shuts off untill it cools down. |

It is my understanding that fan would also be commanded on whenever amp load is above 2/3 controller rating.

Thank you gentlemen!
I will do a data log this weekend but more than likely will add the fan. |

Re: Adding a fan to Alltrax SR48400?'s
The XCT48400 controller I have has about the same thermal characteristics (same case design) as the SR48400 and while I had driven the 10+ mile route I'd laid out for range/runtime testing as hard as I could go without any issues, the first time I took SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) with me, the XCT overheated and shutdown when we were about as far away from the house as we could get on the test route. I was driving fairly sedately, but the additional 130 pounds added enough to the workload to overheat the controller.
I installed a fan kit a few days later and haven't had a temperature shutdown since then. |
