But I think OP is hinting that he plans to monitor his old charger in bulk mode (he has a failed OBC) and thinks by using the digital meter to evaluate the charge in his pack, that his batteries will not suffer over time. But since the old charger (without OBC) will not taper or alter charging properly when finish charging (other than reduce amps due to resistance in the cells) - his battery pack will suffer over time, no matter how attentive he tries to be with monitoring pack voltage.

Or maybe he's not hinting at that, and I am just being judgmental.

joesam, you read my mind.
I was in the process of looking at volt readout to head in that direction.
I guess this is not Sergio's first rodeo so that if there was a cheaper alternative to fixing a 'crap' OBC, him and all the others would have brainstormed a said solution.

So, my options are, bypass OBC, buy a DPI charger $300+ or
buy a used OBC replacement for $300+ and go through that process all over again when it goes out.

Would one of these:
Club Car Electric 48-Volt Replacement Timer (Fits 1995-Up)
be of any use?

Without the OBC managing your charger, you have the equivalent of a radio without a volume knob. It can only shout at your batteries at top volume. Eventually hearing damage will ensue. Those old timer circuits were created for different chargers, not the big a** transformer that you have. A modern smart charger is your best option. They are more elegant by far than your OBC (was) when it was designed and will wring the best possible performance and longevity out of your pack. Remember you can sell your charger to someone with a functioning OBC and recover some of your cash outlay.

No, those were for resonant type chargers....

You can get a new OBC for $150 - $200 if you shop around....

You can get a Yewy SC for $259 from Carts Unlimited here http://www.cartsunlimited.net/yewy-1...t-charger.html

So the failure here is that the OBC is repeatedly opening/closing the ground for the solenoid? If I read that right.

Don’t waste money on the crap timer. Smart charger is the way to go.

I think Scottyb has been having good luck with them and I know he worked with them to get what he needed to meet the needs for carting.

Hhmm, hate to say it but site layout sucks, IMHO.
Also, it wont let me add the 3-prong club cart adapter to the order. Keeps telling me an error has occurred. It will let me add on other adapters though.
