Default Continental batteries

Does anyone have experience with Continental 2GC110 batteries? I believe they are around 230ah@20 hrs. Our local distributor has them for $99 a piece. I am not familiar with the name.

I'm not sure who is making continental batteries - maybe Johnson controls ? But they have been around for a while and they look to be as standard as any GC battery. The capacity is right for the application so it matters more how the batteries are used and cared for than the name on them

Yep, we tried "black box" Korean batteries once as a "low cost alternative". They served very well for the price, but they were very "messy" batteries. Very corrosion mess prone, but some served 5 years. It's all about care & maintenance. I think those did better than some cut-rate brands you have heard name of. Crap is crap, but if your demands aren't to tough (5 days of golf a week, or tough off-road), some people might do fine with "cheap". This doesnt apply today, as it was a long time ago, but I once saw a fleet of lease carts with "blue top" Workaholic batteries that did pretty good after coming off-lease, extended time. They were 2.5 years old when we saw them, the best ones we ever saw off lease. I'm not generally a big US battery fan, but those looked most like US. (In my opinion, US battery is the "messiest" battery as far as wet tops & corrosion is concerned, with only "just about average life"). US is still better than any "bargan brand". As always, if you think you are getting a "smoking deal" on some version of a "black box Trojan", or whatever they say, if it was really "top grade", it would be in their "top grade" box, they aren't just giving away deals if you just dont care about the color of the box. No matter what box you buy, get the biggest capacity you can afford. Please, be an informed buyer & dont buy on price alone unless "just ok" is good enough for your shady flip deal.

Rant over.....
