1986 EZGO-3w resistor cart wiring issues
Working on my 1986 EZGO 3 wheel 36v resistor cart and I am having issues with the wiring on this. I am changing this to three deep cycle 12V batteries and I got the motor back from the electrical rewind shop and I am now finally wiring it again. Batteries are connected and test ok. Charger works fine. When I got the cart it wasn't running and many wires were mixed up or disconnected. I am trying now to wire it. I used the resistor cart wiring diagram sticky and I believe everything looks right. The only wiring issue I still have is the wiring from the microswitch-3 on the wiper board and if this is supposed to be connected to the FNR switch position C or not? I have two different diagrams showing two different things and since I can' see the solenoid side on the diagrams I am just making sure. Thanks for the help. Steve

Re: 1986 EZGO-3w resistor cart wiring issues
Is this what your wiring? Early Ezgo 36 volt resistor cart.
This is how a stock 36 volt swipper should be wired. Nothing should be on the very bottom stud, it's empty so when the cart is stopped. The swipper is a spring loaded part that has to ride smoothly across the contacts of the board. Make sure all of them are nice and smooth. |

Re: 1986 EZGO-3w resistor cart wiring issues
Thanks for the help. Once I saw these pics and had a good wiring diagram for the 1986 Cart with the microswitches on it I rewired. cut off and recrimped every wire or used new wires and every terminal was cleaned and checked. Cart works great except I need a replacement aftermarket key switch as the previous one had a bad terminal. I temporarily wired the two leads to an on/off toggle that was previously used for lights for the time being. Not the safest thing with kids around though so I will need to add a key switch assembly. I also want to add lights again to it in the future so I was going to do this anyway. I will post pics once I get the new seat covers put on it. Thanks for your help.

Re: 1986 EZGO-3w resistor cart wiring issues
Go by a key switch at parts store.
If you want to use 2 of the batteries I suggest buying another 36 volt solenoid hook it up off the key switch. Then run your + wire from the 6 v battery to 1 of the big terminals. Then run your wires for lights and such off the other one. Ground them back to the 2 6volt battery. This way everything cuts off with the key. |
