Default Re: Can solenoid click and still be bad?

The problem was stupid mistakes and not thinking things through. 1st off I rushed to conclusion before testing each component. I initially thought the solenoid was bad but I tossed it away before even testing it. I do think the cart runs faster now with the correct new solenoid so maybe it was the solenoid.

I was frying the micro pedal switches because, like you guys said, I had the diode in the wrong direction. The gray stripe has to be on the negative end. Also, I had not placed the diode or my resistor on the solenoid before I attached my cables. Really dumb stuff, and not think about current flow just rushing through it.

Next thing I need to work on are the brakes. You really have to push the brake all the way to the floor to stop. Possibly the pads? I'm lookin to get myself into some more trouble.

Try letting the brakes self adjust themselves first. EZGO brakes don't adjust the same way as drum brakes on a car did.

Take cart to cruising speed and press brake pedal hard as you can, being careful not to set parking brake. Release pedal just before cart stops.

Repeat until rear tires will lock up.

I'm back!!! Pedal switch is good this time. Solenoid is clicking. My son had cart out with friends, noticed a smoking smell and decided to bring back to the house. He says he let is sit for 10 minutes and tried to go move it but it didn't move. Batteries are charged and they are newer. Solenoid is newer and clicking, pedal switch working. Motor is newer. Where should I start looking? Thanks as always.
