The capacitor holds a charge, (up to 660V) so you might get zapped if you don't discharge it before touching the terminals with your fingers.

Read page 25 of the manual I posted.

the timer for this particular charger is $300 retail, so I used the $50 one for the powerwise III charger and works like a champ!

The control board(s) in the ferroresonant transformer type chargers all work more or less the same, so if it can be mounted inside the charger, it ought to work okay.

The control board only does three things:
1. Applies AC power to the transformer if the pack voltage is above about 30V.
2. Removes AC power from the transformer when the on-charge voltage reaches about 45V.
3.Removes AC power from the transformer if the on-charge voltage does not reach about 45V within about 12 to 16 hours.

My power wise charger shows 7 amps as soon as I plug it in and it turns off after 15-20 minutes. Is this a simple fix or could it be expensive to fix

That sounds like a capacitor problem... BUT, have you addressed the health of your batteries?

As far as the prior posts, I don't even know how many of the older chargers I have converted to newer style "fully automated" operation from old "semi-auto timer" style, using the newer timer boards. Those parts are expensive when it's a bad board & a bad timer at the same time.

Batteries are getting replaced but I tried the charger on a friends golf cart. Is the capacitor expensive?

Thanx, again. Appreciate your help. Actually I'm looking for pics of the 9012 board for a powerwise charger, installed into a powerwise 2 ezgo charger. Cause the regular power board cost $250.00 now. So need to know how to put in a 9012 board. But the white transformer wires are the hold up.

Also having charger issues. do not have the cart here so is there any way to test charger board and relay without plugging into a battery pack?

Have a 36v power wise 2 charger that the needle doesn't work, and when test my capacitor it reads 8.1 ohms

Have checked continuity at all test places and checks out ok except for the capacitor test.

Just replaced the board as the old one was smoked up

Anybody have a diagram for testing? All I can see is the one with bigger board which is a little different inside
