48V Battery Charge Question
Hello everyone!
First of all, I want to thank each of you for the wealth of knowledge that you share on here. I just purchased a 2009 EZ-GO RXV and completely customized it including lift kit, tires/wheels, upholstery, LED lights, etc. It is a 48 Volt system with Trojan T-1275 Batteries (2009). I have noticed that under full load, the state of charge meter pulls down and , but understand that this is normal as the needle moves back to the fully charged state. Question I have is what should the voltage read fully charged? I am using the PowerWise QE Charger. While charging, down to last 10 - 20% of charge volt meter reads 49 to 50 volts. Once charging has stopped and sit for a bit, they read around 42 volts. Is this normal? I have seen no issues that leads me to believe that they are bad, just curious if this is normal. Thanks in advance for your replies. Chris |

Re: 48V Battery Charge Question
A 48v fully charged and rested pack should be on the order of 51v. A 42v reading is a real problem.

Re: 48V Battery Charge Question
That is much help, thank you!
So I feel like an idiot. I was only checking voltage from the 3rd battery in the series. I just checked it from the fourth and last battery, and I have a voltage reading of 52. So according to the chart, I have 100%. Is this a fair assumption? I am sorry to ask a question and realize it was user error! Chris |

Thank you Kernal!
This is our third cart. Spent a little more money on this one than I should have, but we only live once. |

Re: 48V Battery Charge Question
Quote:
To get an accurate SoC reading from the chart, let batteries "Rest" for 12 hours after charger automatically cuts off. Your pack voltage when the charger cuts off is in the 58V - 61V range, but that is a surface charge and doesn't accurately reflect State of Charge. Give them about half a day to deplete through self-discharge, or drive about a mile. |
