New 2001 EZGO TXT PDS owner
Hello all!
After much debate over different solutions for what I was looking for, I decided on a 2001 EZGO TXT that I got a great deal on. The cart just had new batteries and speed sensor installed before I picked it up. I am new to the cart world, but have built many other types of vehicles and I am mechanically competent. With that I mind, I was looking for some suggestions to keep the experience as great as possible. We will be using the cart to cruise the neighborhood and take with us camping (RV camping). I'm really just looking for a reliable cart that will move my family around, etc. what I've ordered so far: - 5" lift kit with 22" wheel and tire combo - rear flip seat - head and taillight kit Everything else is stock, but I was looking at possibly sending the motor to plum and also about a new controller to get close to stock performance with the bigger tires. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks James |

Re: New 2001 EZGO TXT PDS owner
MOst of the PDS drivers are happy with the 400a Alltrax controller and HD solenoid. Like the one in my 808 package. I'm running my '08 PDS on the 808 package at 42v, it has plenty of torque and speed without being over the top or having batteries in the rear bagwell. Everything fits nice under the seat. And I'm running the stock motor.
Going 25mph on 20" tires, no lift kit. |

The stock controller will probably not last long after you put a lift kit, and rear seat on it. As scottyb said the Alltrax DCX400 is a great replacement for the stock controller. My cart is solidly in the 30mph mark with 48v. It has been very reliable.
If it were me doing it all over again my upgrade would go like this: 1)4ga battery cables, and motor cables. (No need to upgrade the small 10ga black/white) 2)Alltrax DCX400 controller and solenoid 3)Plum Quick bandit upgrade 4)Lift kit and tires wheels 5)Rear seat 6) When you wear the batteries out replace with 48v. |

Re: New 2001 EZGO TXT PDS owner
to BGW!
Just want to toss in a couple thoughts to go along with what the previous posters said. I'd go with the 808B package and get the super duty solenoid because it will work on 36, 42 or 48 volts so you don't have to change the solenoid when you up the voltage. You don't have to change out the F1&F2 cables unless they are in bad shape, but make sure the connections are clean and tight. With 22" tires, you will be hitting the battery pack pretty hard, so you want the highest amp-hour capacity you can carry. Eight 6V batteries for 48V would be the highest, but six 8V batteries will fit under the seat. Seven 6V batteries fit under the seat and is a nice compromise on speed and run-time. They all work, you just gotta figure out what you want the end product to be and build towards that goal. |

Welcome! The Alltrax DCX400 is what I am getting ready to upgrade to. Everyone says that is a great upgrade. Also, that Plum Quick performance series motors looks awesome, but they are only advertising to CC. Why? they fit EZGO, right?

Re: New 2001 EZGO TXT PDS owner
Sorry guys, I haven't seen these updates as I wasn't subscribed to my own post :/
Anyway, once I get these upgrades installed I will likely take scottyb's recommendation and go with the 808 upgrade and do the wires and leave the stock motor for now. What kind of range would one expect to get out of this combination? |
