Nothig But A Little Smoke
Hello, I have a 08 cc precident I got on a trade,it has been toataly submerged. I've cleaned all the terminals and replaced the batteries, when I hooked up the batteries I got nothing,no back up buzzer, no click nothing, after about 30 seconds i got a little smoke from something in the area of the solenoid, theres not much room to see whats going on. This is my first electric cart so i don't know where to start so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Controller is bad resistor on solenoid is getting hot and smokes, pull the motor and clean it out before installing a new controller.

I was afraid of that. It has a curtis model 1510a-5251, what would be a good up-grade?

You have an IQ cart so the sky is the limit or the wallet. you can have that controller rebuild for 170 to 270 dollars so shop around.

Re: Nothig But A Little Smoke
well my cart is stock now and use it for campground cruising, may upgrade to bigger wheels in the future. With that being said what would you buy if it was yours? Thanks.

Re: Nothig But A Little Smoke
I would go stock and get a speed Mod for it. Magnet, 2Speed, Speedy link or speed code 5 lots of options. I have a thin wallet!

Re: Nothig But A Little Smoke
Yeah same here. I found a used controller at the local golf cart seller for 125 so that's what I'm going to try. I don't want to dump a bunch of money into this until I get the bugs out.

Re: Nothig But A Little Smoke
If motor was submerged you have to disassemble it and get the brushes moving in the brush holders. It may be salvageable by cleaning after it's apart.

Re: Nothig But A Little Smoke
Ok the guy that had the controller had a gray one, I have a black one. So I'm back to square one, does anyone have a used one to sell or know of a good dealer to purchase or rebuild mine? I don't think the one I have would be a suitable core it's all corroded inside. I did pull the motor and clean. Thanks in advance.

Re: Nothig But A Little Smoke
Ok, got a used motor controller off ebay and a high speed magnet from east coast carts. Cart starts to go then stops and buzzer beeps then no movement at all. Any ideas? I've got to have this thing running by the 4th of July to win a $30 bet made by my wife. Thanks.
