For this particular application is not just the rating of the solenoid either, there is a physical component as well since the Resistor Coil is bolted to the top of the solenoid.
Which brings a thought, in that model the OBC is supposed to tell the controller when it can do Regen back to the batteries and when it does Dynamic Breaking and dissipates the energy thru the resistor coil over the solenoid. Under normal conditions, I would expect it should not take long before the OBC would allow the batteries to absorb the energy and the solenoid would never be deactivated. If the cart is constantly doing Dynamic Break, the resistor coil over the solenoid could overheat enough that it would melt the solenoid coil. Have You done any modifications to the OBC or re-routed the Main negative cable around the OBC? |

I did replace the OBC a couple of months ago as well as the relay in my charger. Just replaced this solenoid last night and all is good now. Hopefully I will be good for a while...time will tell. Thanks for all the advice. Awesome forum.
