48 volt to 12 volt question
my 96 cc ds 48 volt has head lights, tail lights and brake lights that all come off of a fuse block in front of the batteries. it has 1 wire from the + on batt #5, which gives it 16 volts. this all looks stock from the factory but since i'm not the original owner i'm not sure. do i need to install a converter to run these lights at 12 volts? or is it fine leaving it the way that it is? i'm just trying to clean this thing up and get everything running the way it should.

Re: 48 volt to 12 volt question
It most likely has a 16-12 volt reducer. It would likely be on the frame behind batteries, or side frame somewhere.

Re: 48 volt to 12 volt question
you can use a 48v to 12v converter just hook it up to the fuse box , it would be better on your battery pack
my 2001 48v does not have a reducer it runs the lights off 16v (+ on #5 battery) |

Re: 48 volt to 12 volt question
thanks, i think i'm going to look into some led lights and then maybe a 48/12 reducer. my meter reads 16 volts going through the fuse block.

Re: 48 volt to 12 volt question
When I got my cart it had head lights. I saw the wire coming off the number 5 battery, and there was a wire hooked to the number 6 battery Neg. the voltage at the light switch was 16 volts. Then when I turned the switch on I had 12 volts at the lights??? I found the reducer under the frame, but never investigated it further. I just installed a 48-12 volt reducer later on and didn't worry about it. That may have been normal for that style reducer.
