1996 club car charger will not come on
I have a 1996 Club Car 48 volt. I have read several threads about bypassing the OBC to make charger come on. Could someone give clear directions on doing this? I have checked connections, continuity, fuse, put charger on another cart and worked, and batteries.
Thanks |

I connected the fuse side to negative and made the charger come on. Does that mean the OBC needs replacing?

Without seeing it, it sounds like a OBC. Does your car run right now?

Re: 1996 club car charger will not come on
Here is some good info on battery usage.... 48.1 volts is below empty according to manufacturer's specifications. 100% charged up settled reading on the 48v pack should be 50.93 volts. The manufacture recommends that you not draw the pack down below 50% capacity which is 48.41 volts. Your charger will not come on if the pack is too low for the charger to recognize. Continually discharging the pack below the 50% mark will significantly reduce battery life.... the pack can be recharge after as little as 20 minutes of actual pedal time. Hope this helps .... Good Luck.

Re: 1996 club car charger will not come on
Thanks scottyb. I rechecked and it was 48.7 instead of 48.1. So I am charging the pack to full and will check again. Thanks. Where is the best place to order an OBC if I do need one?
