Default Voltage Reducer and Meter on an RXV

PM'ed a sponsor about both and got a reply "RXV is AC and we only do DC"???? I know the drive system AC but the root battery system still DC and plenty of people here with RXV's with 12v reducers and battery meters...correct? I know I've read alot of horror stories of people tapping into wrong wire on RXV's and frying things (which is why I'm asking...lol). Is there a sticky of an RXV schematic showing where the safe (DC) wires are or even better a tutorial of how to hook up an 12v power reducer and battery meter into an RXV. Haven't found one but this is a huge site. Thanks

NEVER splice anything into the RXV harness. Connect your reducer and meter directly to main positive and main negative on your battery pack. This way it will be totally separate and can't impact from the RXV electronics.

Also, in terms of battery meter, there is a factory plug behind the dash and you can buy a meter that connects directly to this plug. However, all of these meters I have seen have had Gas Gauge style readings and for best accuracy you need one that shows actual pack voltage. In the case of the latter, you will need to wire direct to main negative and main positive.

BTW, if anyone knows of a plug-n-play battery meter for the RXV that reads actual voltage, please post her

Thanks. Is there any wire safe for a relay, etc. that's keyed to power up meter and inverter only when in use, or a toggle the only safe option on RXV?

I’ve read multiple times about guys wiring them to the solenoid, so the reducer powers up when the cart is on. I’m not sure about the meter, the stock one gets its info from the controller.

Whatever you do, wait until you have explicit directions from one of the gurus. You don’t want to be an example of how to have to replace a controller.

Wiring the voltage reducer to the solenoid is best so the reducer and all attached accessories only turn on when the key is turned to the ON position. The process is straightforward but as usual take all precautions necessary such as the tow switch.

For the voltage meter, pay the extra money and get this one that plugs directly into the factory plug-in:

This one will come on with the cart :)

I'm running that same meter (the one Vandy Guy linked to) it's been great and is a very simple install.
