How to tell ACCURATE battery level? *PICTURES*
So we recently got a 2001 Club Car DS, it has brand new Batteries (6 8Volt), less than a month old.
It has the analog gauge on the dashboard of the battery level but it seems like it's not accurate? We drove for around 3 hours yesterday, never lost power or saw a decrease in speed. Then when we came home, I and immediately plugged it into the charger and it auto shut off around 2-3 hours. After the charger shut off, the battery gauge on the dash was saying about half or a little more, (See attached picture). My question is why wouldn't it read all the way to the right (Green), instead of only reading halfway? Are these gauges normally inaccurate? Could it be broken? Anyways what are my options for getting an accurate reading. I am not super Electrical savvy, but I do have a voltmeter. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it. |

Those F/E meters are garbage! Remove it and install a real digital voltage meter in its place...

It looks like you can just connect the meter to the positive an negative of the battery back for most accurate readings. With this configuration, would the meter be "on" all the time?

Yes it would, but that is an LED and has a very minimal draw.

Re: How to tell ACCURATE battery level? *PICTURES*
Though my cart comes with 3 soc indicator a colored graph, a percent of
digital soc and a digital volt meter..I had the ScottyB's cartsunlimited volt meter installed on my carts dash... The ScottyB voltmeter is my reference standard in my cart's log keeping track of my miles, start, stop, rest volts, amps out and amps in. Hope this helps... |
