Default 2003 club car IQ DS speed setting

I understand my 2003 club car IQ DS comes from the factory with 3 possible speed settings. I think my cart is set on the lowest one. Is there a way for me to change that setting on my own, or do I have to take it to the dealer to have it changed? This cart has the computer port just below the forward/reverse toggle switch. Thanks,

You will have to take it to the dealer for re-programming. I'm not sure if the general public can buy the tools to do it yourself. I think its called an IQDM-P (IQ display module-programmer) and it cost around $700.

There are 2 different part numbers.

Actually it has 4 speed settings, but the 4th is one that Club Car charges a fee for. It will set the speed to 19.7 miles per hour. It usually cost around $75.00 and Club Car sends the code and some stickers that are supposed to be placed on the cart stating that it does not meet the normal speed specifications and of course the code, which is controler dependant. One sticker will have the persons name or golf cart shop name who purchased the #4 speed upgrade.

It still has to be programed by a golf car shop who has the programer.

The first 3 speeds can be set without fees from clubcar.

Are these speed settings in the Controller? If I was to swap my motor out with an EMP motor and not change the controller, would a cart still be retricted to these speed settings?

Yes in the controller....... new or different motor has no effect on settings.

So even if you get a "faster" motor, if you don't change the controller at the same time... you'll notice no difference in speed?

I have a 2004 DS. Does this unit have 4 speed settings, if so what are they for the first 3 that do not have to be returned to the dealer and how do I change them?

If you read carefully above on the post by Rusty it does need to be returned to the dealer for any speed code changes, the first 3 are normally not charged for but #4 there is generally a fee for.

I am still trying to decide whether to just do this high speed code or a Plum Quick bandit motor. From all that I have read, if I keep all other components stock I will only see about 20 mph top end with the PQ... why not just buy the code, hit 19.7 MPH and keep my regen ? It would be cheaper.
