If you want speed code 4 speeds why not just buy a speedylink from one of our sponsors? Then you can switch it on off if the kids are driving. Works like a charm, installs in under 5 minutes, and is only a little over $100. If you sell the cart you can take it out and keep it for your next one.

I would go with the Speedylink if I could, but my understanding is that it does not work with the newer Excel carts. It has to be the IQ version for Speddylink to work.

I believe my only option is to go with installing Speed Code 4.

I ran into the same problem last year when I bought a 2010 CC precedent Excel (PH10... s/n). The existing tricks like the 4 pole magnet or the electronic "speed override" modules don't work on those controllers.
So I decided to build my own! I had done a lot of work with micro-controller chips and wheel encoders a long time ago and wanted to get back to it as a hobby. I have been refining the software over the winter and will get it into the final enclosure this weekend.
I kept the regen brake as I have a lot of hills around my house and it does wear the brakes a lot (my neighbor has a DS and it is hard on his brakes). My cart all stock will go 24mph down the big hill and stop with regen within 30ft if I take the foot off the pedal.
I need to find a flat area to test the speed, but up hill does not seem to help much.
I have been reading this forum since last year and have got quite an education on golf carts and DC motors in general.
This is a Great Forum!

Sergio, I too have a 2010 Precedent PH. Please keep us posted on what you find out. I am in the Charlotte area also.
Thanks

Quick question on Speed Code 4. After you install the code is it in the controller forever? I know it can be disabled with the programmer, but I just want to make sure the code and higher speed stay in the controller if the batteries are disconnected. I'm pretty positive it stays in the controller even if hte batteries are disconnected, but just wanted to confirm.

Thanks

Thumbs up Re: Private Speed Mode 4 Details

I purchased mine from nocoev.com.
It’s the 1313-4331 programmer.
Very happy with it. It’s the highest OEM version w full access to all levels.

P.S.
Thanks for the Speed Code programming tips!
