36 volt solenoid
I have a 1994.5 series and it has a little wire (with the letters DII IN5406 on it) between the 2 small post on the solenoid. What is this?

Re: 36 volt solenoid
A Diode suppresses voltage spikes when coil is de-energized. Diodes or Surge Suppressors are used to suppress the high voltage spike that is generated when a relay or contactor coil is de-energized. The electromagnetic field collapsing across the coil generates a voltage spike in the wires of the control system. Without the suppressor, the surge can reach 8 to 10 times the rated coil voltage and can propagate through the system causing electronic controls to go to unwanted states and filling counters with erroneous numbers. Not all systems utilize diodes. If your system uses one then it should be there and in good condition. Take it off and match it up at your Ezgo Dealer or Radio Shack type store. They are DIRECTIONAL so note it's position.
