buggies lift problems
I have a buggies unlimited 5'' lift axle and am having problems. Besides the spindle extensions i noticed the spindle pin is loose in the drop axle. You can grab the tire at 12 and 6 and get movement in the spindle. It is not the pin because it is tight in the stock axle holes, pisses me off only two rides and worn out. Anybody else have this problem? Would love to have a TT front but money is not available for that. RCC has the jakes long travel for $730.00 and $160.00 shipping. Any thoughts? HELP

Re: buggies lift problems
Oh, wonderful BU lifts....junk.
Although it's not the most professional thing to do, you could weld the edge of the hole the king pin runs though, then re-drill it out to the exact size you need. Just be sure you get weld all the way through so it is thick like the rest of the piece. I did this on a Club Car upper delta clevis, and it worked, but then I bought a lift for it and the lift came with a new one. |

It is a 95 Medalist. The thing that sucks is freight and re-buying a lift. I considered buying a take-off 4'' lift off of a workhorse that includes spindles shocks tie rods and axle for $250.00 then another $125.00 shipping.

Re: buggies lift problems
It does suck, but I am realizing that carts are used in different ways. Some just want the big lifted look and it might see an occasional dirt road, while others take them off-road and use them hard. I want a cart that can handle the use and abuse. I fully expect to make repairs and have problems I just feel this is a little early. That is why I would like a Magazine that would compare golf-cart parts like the long travel frontends. There are 3 for the ezgo that I know of and I would like to know which is stronger, smoother and so on. Maybe as the industry grows we can have something like that.

Re: buggies lift problems
It does not, and all the tests seem to be ranger and rhino. Very good Mag just not as informative as some mags for atvs and stuff.

Re: buggies lift problems
I'd like to see a golf cart magazine that is like Consumer Reports. That would be great!

Re: buggies lift problems
I would bet its nothing more than worn out spindle tube bushing, very common problem. These axles are tough, very strong, if your thinking the hole in the axle that the spindle tube bushing goes in is wall-erd out, its probably the bushing. The bushing has to stick out of the spindle on each side so it fits tight on the axle.
