Re: RUns poor aftrer sitting
What year is the cart? What model?
If it's a 4 stroke, clean the carburetor really well first. I would recommend new fuel filters and a new air filter. Then pull the valve cover off and adjust the valves to 5-thousandths (.005). I ran across a G9 that did the same thing, the intake valve was a little too tight. |

Re: RUns poor aftrer sitting
The cart I worked on was a 1994 G9. Try those things and see what happens.

Re: RUns poor aftrer sitting
It's possible that the valves need to be adjusted. When the engine heats up things expand and lengthen to a runable state. Adjust the valves to .004 and see if that helps.

Re: RUns poor aftrer sitting
got the same problem with mine, started happening after I changed oil, fuel filter, air filter, and plug. Ran with no problems prior to tune-up was just doing some maitenence, and now it wont take off, sputters and pops, choke it and it will run better but still not right. Maybe dirt in carb while fuel line was off?? Cart is a 96 g-14

Re: Runs poor after sitting
cjsride, you're probably right about the carburetor having some trash in it. Clean all the jets and passageways extremely well and see what happens.

Re: Runs poor after sitting
Pull the bowl of the carb. and make sure there is not some trash messing up the float. Could also be the fuel filter in the bottom of the tank (G2/G9) or trash in the fuel pump. Also make sure there are no air leaks: air box/carb. spacer. On another note: you might also check your air box to make sure your air filter is not soaked with oil. G2/G9 models are bad about this since oil dipstick misreads. It should be one quart of oil only. Any more and it will dump over into the air box. I have a fix for this if anyone is having this problem.

Did you find the problem and get it repaired?
