You have it..... Solenoid, and charger need to be 72V.
(And a 72 to 12 convertor if you have auxiliary equipment)
Be sure to get a lithium specific charger that shuts itself off after achieving full charge
(Lithium batteries should not be "floated")
You should also get a good "State of Charge" meter if you don't already have one.
I would also recommend 24 cell Lithium Iron Phosphate for your battery.

Hi there - considering ordering this battery pack. How did the new battery with the upgraded BMS work out? Issues gone?

Many thanks!

It's been perfect. In for 6 months or so now, driven miles every day and it's had zero issues....

Doug, great thread. Just wondering which Delta-Q charger did you get?

Thanks

Delta Q refused to sell a generic LiFrPo4 charger, so I purchased a LiFePo4 specific charger from Alibaba and have since purchased another. They have performed very well and automatically shut themselves off at full charge so that i can plug in overnight without worry....

Other than getting a 72v solenoid, and obviously a 72v battery/charger, what else in the electrical system of the cart would have to be replaced. Will the ignition switch and tow/run switch handle 72v?
Also wondering about the other components, the FNR Switch, the Throttle Pedal, the Wiring Harness, etc???

All those components stay and work fine. My fully charged voltage is just over 86V (The Navitas is good up to 100V)

Bringing this thread back to life :)
Doug is the spec sheet posted early in this thread still good?
I'm debating whether to do my own or order from RD as you did. I plan to get a quote in the coming days. On their website it looks like they have 4 72V choices now: 200AH, 150AH, 120AH and 100AH.

From the current graph, it seems it should be spec'd for maybe 240A discharge (about 2C if 120AH pack), but the attached spec sheet has 120A (1C) continuous discharge with 200A max. I would think this would need an update. Would you agree?

Also, I want to do the regen brake modification that changes the amount of regen current based on how hard the brake pedal is pushed. Does this pack tolerate the amount of regen that is provided by the Navitas 5k kit? I haven't seen a current graph of the regen current, so I wonder if you have that info as well?

I'm also looking for update info on the regen setup as well. I've seen the posts from fstop and recall you mentioned it as well. Is there another thread about what components are needed and what setup is needed in the Navitas SW?

Thanks!
Rick

Smile Re: 72V AC Drive Precedent Progress

Here is the latest spec for the battery I purchased.
To convert to 72V you will need the battery, a new contactor and 12VDC converter
Heavier cables and a good state of charge meter is also highly recommended.
I don’t have any issues with current limitations, but more is always better :)
I also added a Cateye bicycle speedometer to keep from getting tickets....
