96' ezgo txt dcs cart will not move
Hey all,
I have a 96' EZGO TXT with the DCS set up. about a week ago as I was parking it in my garage I spun the tires trying to get up the ledge between drive way and garage. the tires spin happened for just a few seconds. once I let off I attempted to put the cart in reverse and it would not move. I have tested the Curtis controller and it is recieving power and outputting power. when I press the pedal the solenoid clicks. but no movement. I've lifted the rear off of the ground to see if the cart would move without a load on it and nothing. my next step is to test the motor and I have a diagram on how to test the motor but I am having a hard time finding anything on how to test the F/R switch. any and all help on solving this problem is welcomed. wife and kiddos are up my butt about getting this cart down the road again. thanks |

Fnr switch is just two micro switches. One should close in both F and R. The other just R. Does the solenoid click when you push the pedal?

Re: 96' ezgo txt dcs cart will not move
Spinning the tires trying to get over ledge means the motor was drawing a lot of amps, so it could have taken out either the motor or the controller or both, or some other stuff.
The solenoid clicks, so the problem in in the high amp circuit. Connect your DVM between the controllers B- and M- (might be labeled A1) terminals. Press pedal just far enough to make solenoid click and you should read battery pack voltage (38.2V if fully charged). If not, there is an open somewhere in the high amps circuit, so use the + test lead to trace the high amp circuit and find the missing voltage. (High amp circuit highlighted on attached schematic) If you do get pack voltage, then slowly push pedal to floor and the voltage ought to smoothly decrease to 0V. Let us know what you get. |

Re: 96' ezgo txt dcs cart will not move
Yes i am reading pack voltage through controller between B- and A1. Also when i slowly push pedal down voltage gradually starts to decrease. I believe i have have narrowed it down to the motor being “burned up” and finding it hard to find a replacement used DCS motor. I believe it’s time to do a swap and i want to get away from DCS and also reach atleast 25MPH. Any suggestions?
