Melex lifted gasser won't climb very well
Hey guys,
I have a lifted Melex cart, model 512G with red motor, it is pretty fast, but won't climb very well. It has 22" tires. I ordered a belt from Nagy Golf Carts a couple of years ago, but it didn't help. When taking off, you have to rev the engine, then it jerks into gear, sort of like a stall converter does in an automobile. Could it be something to do with the clutch? I know this is the EZGO department, but I have heard these are similar to ezgo's, and thought I may get more help here. Thanks |

Re: Melex lifted gasser won't climb very well
Might be a good time to call Tom at CPP (see the site sponsor's link at the top). I bought his clutch springs for my Marathon some time ago & saw some improvement climbing hills. Engine RPMs on take off went up, and I lost like 1 mph at the top end (now like 23 mph) but it'll pull a hill at 16 or 17 mph now. Besides the springs in each clutch, there are ramps that can be easily replaced too.
Nice roof rack. Guess you had to reinforce the roof supports to handle the weight.... something I will probably need to do before long. |
