EZGO Timing Belt
Brand new/rookie to carting. Just bought an EZGO 2000 800G and have
been going over it. I know there is a timing belt but nobody makes any kind of refernce to it. Should I just inspect it and make sure it is not worn or cracked???? |

Re: EZGO Timing Belt
If it ain't broke - Don't fix it. You gotta remove the drive clutch to pull off the cover to get to the belt...

Re: EZGO Timing Belt
There's an inspection plug on the cover about half way down, its
not that big so you'll probably need good light to see in there these are interference engines meaning if the belt breaks that the valves could hit the pistons. These belt are durable but checking it can't hurt!!! |

Re: EZGO Timing Belt
I just had a 93 ezgo 4 cycle engine apart and the belt looked new,im sure a 2000 ezgo's timeing belt would be in good shape yet.

Re: EZGO Timing Belt
Theres usaully no need to even think about the timing belt, In most all cases something else will go wrong long before the belt needs replaced. I do recomend that it gets replaced when doing a rebuild, they seem to like to break within a few months if you remove them then put them back on.

to have it fixed. Plus in the misc. junk box that came with the cart was a brand new timing belt just bought Feb. 4, 2008. Is the drive clutch a son of a pup to take off? Thanks again |

Re: EZGO Timing Belt
Not hard at all, if you have the correct puller.
