Re: 1960's HD cart
I have made my own air filter so I will show you what photos I have. The carb is just clamped between the engine and air cleaner mount. I will try to post my photos!

Re: 1960's HD cart
I hope the photos are close enough to help. I will try to take better views of the carb setup when I get into it again. I will add a photo of the filter. It is a CA3902 and works well except water can be a problem. I will add a can type shield this spring.

Re: 1960's HD cart
If you need more, let me know and I will pull the filter completely off and retake the photos. While it has warm I have been trying to do some machine work and just had time to do my own clutch. It will need an inspection and will take photos then if needed.

Re: 1960's HD cart
I got the carb put back on and it runs as long as I spray starting fluid but not without. Guess I need to rebuild the carb?

Re: 1960's HD cart
You have a fuel flow problem and not necessary the carb. It could be the fuel pump or just losing it's prime or needs to be primed.

Re: 1960's HD cart
I got the cart running in forward and reverse without having to rebuild the carb. It actually ran pretty good...just very loud. Is there a good aftermarket muffler to make it a little quiter or sound better at least? Since I know it will run I am going to tear it apart and start cleaning it up to repaint and fix anything I find wrong with it. Any suggestions or ideas are welcome.

Re: 1960's HD cart
A new muffler will cost around $150.00 but you might cut the old one open and rebuild it.
Thee are aftermarket mufflers that can be fitted with a little ingenuity but from the ones I have seen there are none any where near silent. |

Re: 1960's HD cart
I just purchased a new one from tew friends in ACME in Evanville IN. If you want my old one, it is yours. Something is rattling around in there and I did not have the correct tools to open it. New one cost me 95 bucks shipped
