1993 Drive Clutch
I am having a tough time finding a drive clutch for a 1993 DS with a FE290D engine. I see plenty offered for a 1997 and up that fit an FE290 engine. They look identical to the one removed. Will one of these work for me? If not, any recommendations on where to find the appropriate one?
I appreciate any advice. |

Re: 1993 Drive Clutch
The clutches are the same for 92-96 and 97-up. The only difference is the mounted direction of the anti-chatter springs on the slide buttons, but they really don’t matter much, any difference they make is negligible. All you need to do is pull the outer sheave off and move the springs to the other side, if you care enough to do that much. They are exactly the same inside and out otherwise.
The only difference may be the size of the starter belt pulley that comes on the new clutches. If you’re original pulley is a Larger outside diameter than what comes with the new clutch (if it comes with a new pulley), then you should remove your original pulley and install it on the new clutch. |
