Jake's Lift kit installation recomendations
I just finished installing my Jake's 6" spindle lift kit and wanted to share some of the minor issues I experienced. Hopefully it will help others in the future...
1. If your cart is not new I would recomend getting the inner wheel hub seals and wheel grease. You will need 2 seals. You will want to repack all the bearings. The seals will most likely get damaged when you remove them to repack your inner bearings. 2. Make sure you have the longer body ground wire for the generator on hand and also, make sure you disconnect the existing one before you start the rear lift installation. I managed to get my engine carriage hung on it and it was a bit of a hassle to get undone when I realized it. It probably should have broke but somehow didn't. 3. Shocks - some of the Club Cars have a stud mount on the lower shock and some have a loop mount. Jake's makes 2 different kits for these cars and I managed to buy the wrong one...I bought it used. I decided to use the original lower shock mount instead of the new mount and had to find a suitable shock. I found dimensional data on the Monro site here: http://www.monroe.com/catalog/docume...engthSheet.pdf and I selected Monroe Part # 5753. This cross-referenced to a Gabriel shock with very similar compressed and extended dimensions. They cost less than $20 each. I'll have to cut the mounting tab off the new mount to install the new shock. NOTE: - The installation instructions indicated that I would have to drill the u-bolt holes on the engine carriage assembly to 7/16". fortunately I didn't have to do this because the holes were already large enough. This might be because I have a carryall and it may have a heavier larger u-bolt from the factory. If you have a DS, you might need to drill them. I mention it because if you have to drill these holes, you will have to do it from the bottom which means you will need to have your axle on jack stands high enough to get a drill with the bit under there. I didn't and it would have been a real pain with everything disassembled. Hope this info helps. |

Thanks Husker. No decent pics yet. Up until the lift and wheels, it wasn't even worth making it my avatar

Looks good, I see you went with a 10" rim, and 22" tires it looks like, guess its more of a on road cart and around the yard than off road.

Re: Jake's Lift kit installation recomendations
Thanks. It doesn't see any off-road action. I've been watching the local craigs list site and bought the wheels, tires and lift kit used. Been waiting for over a year to do this upgrade. I hate paying retail you know? I do plan to upgrade the engine though when I find a deal on that. My wife and kids use it mostly around the neighborhood. I use it occasionally for yard chores around the house.

Re: Jake's Lift kit installation recomendations
Those are good looking tires and rims. If it was me, I would rotate the two rear tires, they look directional. I am a little anal.
