Default 1995 Medalist total rewire and go no go

I have a a ton of questions in mind but the one that is on my mind at the moment is . Does my 1995 medalist non dcs series cart with a new cirtis 1206 controller need to have the resistor and/or diode on the solenoid between the posts, what is it for and of i dont have it what problems could i see?

U might want to take a few pictures of your setup so others can look and chime in. Batteries and controller and solenoid that way they get a good view.

They are not necessary to run, but needed. The resistor protects the solenoid contacts from arcing, and the diode protects the controller from voltage spikes.
