Default Re: safe to hard wire voltage reducer

Power draw from a voltage reducer with "no load" is typically not enough to worry about.
to solve your problem, turn radio off and just leave reducer toggle switch on.

The paperwork with reducer should show its "no load" power use.
(Typically in milliamps, thousandths of an amp.)

im going to leave it with switch as cart will sit at campground sometimes two weeks at a time. since I have no antenna I will deal with no memory for now. when I add light bar I may choose a different route. having trouble wrapping my head around all this electric cart stuff.

Just buy yourself a capacitor and let it rejuice every time you turn on the reducer. Or buy a flux capacitor and go back to the future. Hey speaking of "Back To The Future" we also get hover boards this year

Seriously though. I have a little 9v battery (the kind you test on your tongue) that I use on my vehicle radios (no golf cart radio ...yet ). Works beautifully, not sure how many "winters" it would last. But its darn cheap to replace. ...what I have is simular to (but not exactly like) this Memory Saver

The draw from a memory function of a radio will not hurt a battery. It's next to nothing, maybe equal to like say, a cr2032 keyless fob battery. (like the ones you'd see on a computer motherboard)
