If you could get the explanation down to ball cap level - that would be great

I can probably get SWMBO to proofread it for understandability, but I have to disclose she used to repair medical equipment.

I dunno if that's gonna help us much - She' prolly smarter than most of us... Try reading it to the cat. If he flattens his ears or twitches his tail, dumb it down a little more.

She married me, so she ain't all that smart.

On the other hand, she used to fix medical equipment also, so you might be partially right.

We met at work, but I almost didn't ask her out because she looked a lot younger than she actually is (and still does). I had just turned 40 and thought she was in her mid 20's, but had heard her speak enough to realize that brains and beauty could co-exist, so I decided to give her the opportunity to decline my invitation to go out.

It turned out she is only a year and a half younger than me and we've now been married for nearly 32 years.

Like I often mention, the only dumb questions are the ones not asked.

I'll run it by the cats.

When you turn the F/R switch to F the micro switch to the left closes. When you turn the F/R switch to R the micro switch to the right closes. The switches are both normally open.

Thanks for the picture and measurements.

Looks like EZGO used basically the same F/R switch assembly as a DCS with a different cam. (The DCS cam has an additional protrusion on the circumference of the cam in the 7 to 8 o'clock, so when rotated one way, both N.O. switches are closed and only one N.O. switch is closed when rotated the other way.)

The assembly shown in the picture is essentially the mechanical equivalent of the SPST/Center-Off rocker switch used in later PDS carts.

I'm not sure but the wire mostly hidden by the Orange wire going to the plug on the right side of the picture appears to be Red. If so, the colors of the wires that tell the controller to go into forward or reverse, match the schematics. (Green = Forward ... Orange = Reverse)

------------
I've heard on this forum that the PDS to DCX adapter used to install an Alltrax DCX controller in PDS carts with a F/R rocker switch on the dash, will not work for PDS carts with the F/R switch by the knee, but nobody can tell (show me - preferably) why not, so I've been trying to figure it out.

So far, I'm pretty well convinced the controller is the same, or at least the wiring to the various plugs is electrically the same.
And now, it appears that the F/R switch is electrically the same.

The control harness is physically different, it has to be because the F/R switch is located in a different place, but they are electrically the same.

So the conclusion I'm leaning towards is that what I heard about the adapter not working, is unsubstantiated.

What is the main problem with the 2000 pds? If everything is the same except the f/r switch why do some call it a failed model?
