Arcing after installing new cables and batteries
I just installed a new set of 4 AWG cables on both the batteries and the controller. I didn't change the motor cables. I replaced them one by one. When I made the final battery connection, it created a pretty large electrical arc.
I measured the voltage across the pack and I get 38.3 Volts. I tried to measure Amps, and I got 8.8. I thought the amps would have been 0 since there is no load? I double checked all my connections and they appear to be correct. Should it arc like that? Should it read 8.8 amps with no load? EZGO TXT PDS 2005 36V - New Trojan T-105 batteries. |

Put the R/T switch in tow before any electrical work on the cart. Make your final connections and return the switch to Run. |

Re: Arcing after installing new cables and batteries
The switch was in TOW mode during all work....that is when it arched. I get the same voltage and amp reading whether it is in TOW mode or RUN mode.

Re: Arcing after installing new cables and batteries
Thanks Scottyb. You did point me in the right direction....I had re-installed the Tow/Run switch backwards. And it was voltage reducer causing a lot of the arcing.
Its all back together and running now. Thanks. |
