New owner battery storage question
Just purchased new summer home in Michigan. We live in Florida. Home included a 2006 DS. Will be leaving cart fully covered until next May when we come north. What can I do to protect the batteries through the winter?. Can I leave the charger plugged in that long? Without charging, I am guessing they will self discharge and freeze. I close on the property today so I have not had a chance to look the cart over well. Don't know age of batteries or type of charger yet. Will find out more today and add to this post.
Thanks in advance and appreciate any ideas. |

Re: New owner battery storage question
Cold weather is rough on batteries. Ideal situation is have them in aleast a place that is warm and not left in 10 degree weather.
If you cant have someone look at them at least once a month, then you need to keep them charged. Yes the stock charger can do this as it will turn its self on every 15 days or so. I find the system however not fool proof. Trickle charger of some sort is also good, but someone needs to come in and check battery water level if your gone for a long period of time. |

Re: New owner battery storage question
Talked to others in the campground this afternoon. They said the same thing. Disconnect pos and neg after charging. Said they are fine in the spring. They are 2010 batteries so need replacing anyway in the spring.
Thanks for the replies. |
