Re: Radio Install.
Don't go the voltage reducer route..its silly. You will be much happier with a separate 12v battery and a simple charger for $25-35. This way, no complications and you keep the range of your vehicle.

Re: Radio Install.
As it turned out, a friend of mine gave me a 12v batter out of his old boat. I've got an ezgo pds, so it's got that space beside the rest of the pack to put it. I jsut need to pick up a charger for it and I'll be good to go. I'm having an electrician I know put the radio and speakers in for me, so I can't tell you which battery it is yet.

Re: Radio Install.
So if one was to go the separate 12 volt battery route.. has anyone made a clever way to charge the battery? maybe some type of battery terminal extenders? I know on the cart I have it would be a pain to take the back seat off every time I needed to charge the battery.

Re: Radio Install.
I plan to use a power point type plug. Then you could charge cell phone. Mount the female end in the cart and wire it to the battery and wire the male end to the battery charger. Plug it in and charge.

Re: Radio Install.
Are you suggesting a cigarette lighter female connector that accepts current rather than giving it?

Re: Radio Install.
I use a interstate lawn battery, which is rated more cranking amps than a advanced auto battery. Either will work for $30 or less and i charge it about once a week. I have a sony cd player with bluetooth and made me 2 lil keg speaker enclosures, no amp and its plenty for us.

I plan to use a battery tender. This way I can have both my cart charger and tender plug in with one plug, and I'll be forced to keep the 12v battery in top charged condition.
