Reed switch small wire missing
I am trouble shooting a problem with the cart not responding after long drives. I decided to check the reed switch, and it's missing along with the small wire.. I just have two big wires from the charging receptacle to the pos and neg of pack. Do I need that small wire?

Re: Reed switch small wire missing
The switch has been disabled (removed). One of my carts is the same. It is a pretty standard mod.
What problem are you having with the cart after long trips? The immediate thing that leaps to mind is that the controller may be getting hot and shutting down... |

Re: Reed switch small wire missing
If this is the cart described at the bottom of your post, what are the LED error codes when the cart misbehaves?
Those 23" tires take a lot of amps to turn, so four red blinks wouldn't be surprising. |

Re: Reed switch small wire missing
I have a controller from ScottyB. It's a alltrax 4844 non programmable, but he said it's modified for 400amps. You will drive for a while, and push the pedal and nothing happens. Push it a few more times, and it will work.

Re: Reed switch small wire missing
I did get it to do it just now when I was going about 10 mph, I let off the pedal, pushed back down and nothing happened. Everytime I stop completely, to listen for the solenoid, it works. The controller didn't seem hot at all, but the solenoid was super hot. I may just get a 48v solenoid from scottyB, and that way I'll be ready for the 48v conversion in the future. I can run a 48v HD solenoid on a 36v setup right?
Thanks, Redfro |

Re: Reed switch small wire missing
Can I hook up a HD 48v solenoid, 3 amp diode, and 470 ohm resistor to my 36 volt Ezgo right now, to make it run cooler? I will be going to 48v in the near future, and would like to get the right solenoid setup now, to make the conversion easier.

Re: Reed switch small wire missing
Are you running 400 amps through a stock solenoid? If so, this could have happened.

I have the 200a HD solenoid now, but have the big 400a solenoid on order. Hopefully it will cure it?
