If the battery charge was low it is a definite possibility. Assuming you have a stock controller.
When the voltage drops the motor draws greater amounts of amperage, this amount can be excessive, especially under load. High amperage draw creates heat and the heat cooks the controller components.

This is the flaw of the DCS system. Luckily the aftermarket controllers have this problem corrected with a low voltage cut off.

There is one thing that bugs me when I hook the reed switch to the B+ the selenod clicks when you move from foward to reverse any ideas. I unhooked the battery cables at the end that goes to controller and went to rehook and it sparked big should that happen.I have taken cables off one by one and never go a arc before

Ideas? Yup, send the motor to Plum Quick and have it rebuilt, and put an Alltrax DCX400 controller and you will be back up and running. Running about 7 -10mph faster than before too.

I went through a similar event with my DCS.

The motor is the last thing to go and usually not suddenly unless at high speed... Does the solenoid click when you try to go?

sounds like a faulty microswitch in the pedal box if your getting a solenoid click without hitting the pedal....
