Smile Swapping out my old 08 T105 s for CR330 is it worth it

Hey guys need your help here , my batts are dead on my
2008 TXT EZGO , knew it was coming they were 08
I have a lifted cart 22 inch tires ,stock controller and motor
I was thinking of putting in Crown CR330
That is 330 amp hour compared to the 210 or 220 amp hour
Trojans , problem is they are a little bigger then the T105
And alot heavier but this would give me roughly 40%
More amp/hour range Here are the dimensions

CR330 - 12.19 L x 7.19 W x 14.13 H

Typical batt . 10.25 L x 7.13 W x 10.75 H
Typical batt. Weight = 65 lbs
CR 330 -------------- = 100lbs
I know I would need to modify the batt . Carriage etc
Has any body done this ? Is the added weight reasonable does it increase
Range ?
Thanks I really need some input here !
Cheers !

PDS or Series drive?

With standard batteries (about 400lbs) you can carry about 800lbs of people and cargo, so that would be reduced be 200lbs, down to 600lbs.
You can probably beef up the suspension to carry more, but the stock controller, motor and the rest of the drive system isn't going to like it.

Going to 22" tires has already cost you nearly 20% in torque and you need to upgrade the drive system just to turn the big tires.
The extra 200lbs of batteries will make upgrading the drive system more of an imperative.

I'm not sure if they can be shoehorned under the seat, but you ought to get upwards of 50% more run-time (range), give or take a few minutes.

I'm going a different route to get more range. Upping the batteries from 225AH to 245AH and adding a seventh battery.

Thanks for responding to my thread JB
The cart is a PDS style cart , I have 4 guage cables throughout
The controller in my cart is a Curtis PMC
Part # 73326G07
Serial # 7312-244592 , I thought I read a thread , that sometime in 08
EZGo put out a improved stock controller that can handle
22 inch tire ?
Are you saying the extra weight is going to eat up my range and speed ?
Cheers!

In the freedom mode, the PDS controller limits the motor RPM to about 4400, so you should be getting around 23MPH on 22" tires.

The controller effectively backs off the throttle when the motor RPM limit is reached, so adding 200lbs probably won't slow you down on level ground, but it will slow down sooner on hills and you won't have as much acceleration.

It will take more energy to accelerate an additional 200lbs and more energy to climb hills, but once moving on level ground it'll take about the same energy.

The pds controller that came out in late 2008 changes PDS modes without flipping the Run/Tow switch, but I don't know if the upped the amps any.

The controller you've got is the same model number as the one I am replacing with a Alltrax DCX400 and I have to flip the Run/Tow switch to change PDS modes.

Thanks JB , so from what you are saying if I was to
Increase my controller to 400 amp
Would it solve the weight issue or is it a trade off thing
Is it better to stay at 36 volt pack with higher
Amp/hour and heavier weight (200Ibs) with 400Amp controller
Or go the extra 2 battery route to get range , ?
Which puts it to 48 volt need , new charger , solenoid
Can anyone say money pit :
Trying to keep it economical as possible being I allready
Have a 36 volt power wise delta Q charger

With stock height tires, it would be about the same as carrying an extra
passenger, with tall tire, it is probably like carrying an overweight extra passenger.

A golf cart is designed to carry two golfers and their clubs about 275 yards, stop over groomed trails, stop for about ten minutes and then go another 275 yards or so and stop again. And after 18 repetitions, the batteries are recharged.

If you want to do much more than that the drive system will have to be upgraded.

Going to a 400A aftermarket controller will get back the lost torque and then some and it won't limit motor RPM, so you'll also have more speed.

The stock motor will run cooler (IE: last longer) with a higher pack voltage.

The DCX400 controller works on any voltage from 36V to 48V and some solenoids do also.

Range/Run-time is based on how many kWh (kilo Watt hours) are stored in your battery pack. A T-105 battery stores 1.5kWh, a 36V battery pack made up of t-105s would be 9.0kWh.

Extrapolating from the T-105 specs, the CR-330 would have about 2.2kWh, which would be about 13.2kWh for a 36V pack. or 46.7% more run-time, less the increased load from the extra weight.

A 48V pack with T-105's would be 12.0kWh, or about a 33.3% increase in run-time.
A 48V pack with CR- 330's would be 17.6kwh or 95.5% increase in run-time when compared to a 36V T-105 pack.

If you change pack voltage, you will have to replace charger.
